Lincoln County is a storied locale in mid-coast Maine. Its population of over 34,000 people makes it the thirteenth-largest county in Maine. Established on June 21, 1760, when York County was first divided, Lincoln County was initially bounded by the eastern extremity of Casco Bay to New Meadows River, across the Carrying Place to Merrymeeting Bay, and up the Androscoggin River 30 miles. Its Eastern boundary extended from the sea to the unbounded northern limits of the Province of Maine. This Southwest part had once been Cornwall County of the Colony of New York. It's no wonder this area holds so much historical significance - with such rich history; it's easy to see why this region is an essential part of Maine today.
